policy. Part-time employees working = > 20 hours per week are entitled to annual/sick leave pro-rated in conformity to hours worked.
A. Provision for allocations and accumulation of sick leave
1. All full-time employees of East Central Community College on an annual contract will be allocated eight hours of sick leave accrued monthly, for each month of that contract; 2. All full-time employees not under contract will be allocated eight hours of sick leave each month which will be accrued monthly; 3. Employees working on a nine-month contract will be allocated eight hours of sick leave for teaching 6-11 semester credit hours during the summer term. Employees working on a nine- month contract will be allocated 16 hours of sick leave for teaching 12 or more semester credit hours during the summer term. The additional hours of sick leave will be credited on the last day of the summer term (s) as applicable; 4. All employees not classified as full-time, but working at least 20 hours per week, will be allocated four hours of sick leave each month which will be accrued monthly; 5. All full-time employees and those employees working at least 20 hours per week may accumulate unlimited sick leave. Any sick leave balance available to employee at the time of separation of service from the College will be credited for retirement purposes with PERS.
B. Provisions for utilization of sick leave
1. Sick leave may be taken in the following increments:
Quarter Day Sick Leave 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Half Day Sick Leave 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Full Day Sick Leave 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Increments determined by time of departure 2. A maximum of two days per year of accumulated sick leave may be taken as personal leave. Personal leave must be approved in advance; 3. An employee will receive full salary for each day of approved sick leave. Full pay will be deducted for each day missed after sick leave is exhausted; 4. An employee will receive full salary for each day of approved personal leave. Full pay will be deducted for personal leave in excess of the two (2) allowed per fiscal year; 5. In case of either extended absence due to illness or frequent short-term absences the employee shall be required to provide documentation. Family Medical Leave (FMLA) paperwork must be completed for any extended absences. The paperwork for FMLA may be obtained from the Office of Human Resources. (Extended absence is interpreted to be any absence of more than three (3) consecutive sick days);
