Policy Title: EMPLOYEE LEAVE Personal/Annual Vacation Leave
All personnel employed on a twelve-month basis will be entitled to 80 hours vacation per year, to accumulate monthly at the rate of 6.67 hours per month, with pay subject to the following exceptions and restrictions. Part-time employees working = > 20 hours per week are entitled to annual/sick leave pro- rated in conformity to hours worked. 1. All extended vacations (2 days or more) should be scheduled between spring graduation and the week prior to the fall registration unless special permission is granted by the President; 2. No employee will be allowed to have more than 120 hours of accrued vacation leave at any time. Unused vacation leave may be transferred to the employee’s sick leave (limited to 40 hours per calendar year.) Any unused vacation leave in excess of 120 hours will be forfeited by the employee. Employees must notify the Office of Personnel Services, in writing of their intention to transfer any unused vacation leave to sick leave prior to the accumulation of 120 hours. Leave may only be transferred once a year, generally in November.
3. No pay will be provided for unused annual leave;
4. All requests for leave must be submitted online to one’s immediate supervisor and then to the appropriate vice president for final approval. Notification of approval or denial will be posted to MyInfo on the EC website. Changes in requests should be made in like manner.
Jury Duty Leave
Jury duty is recognized as a civic responsibility. Permanent employees, when summoned for jury duty, will be allowed the time off with pay.
Leave Without Pay
Circumstances may occur meriting leave without pay. An employee may be granted such leave for brief periods when justified and approved by the President of the College in advance.
Maternity Leave
Maternity leave is utilized as any other sick leave until and unless accumulated benefits are exhausted, maternity leave will be treated as leave without pay requiring approval by the President with agreement to return to work after a reasonable time.
Military Leave
Military leave with pay is limited by state statute to 15 days per year. Military leave will not affect vacation allotments for twelve-month personnel.
Sick Leave
All full-time employees of East Central Community College will be covered by the provisions of this
