Policy Title: APPOINTMENTS AND EMPLOYMENT PROCEDURES FOR FACULTY
Applications submitted by individuals seeking a teaching faculty position are maintained in the office of the Vice President for Instruction. When a position vacancy occurs, it is the responsibility of the Vice President for Instruction in coordination with the Division chairpersons and/or dean(s) to determine the requirements for the position and to draft a position opening announcement for approval by the President of the College. Upon approval of the position opening announcement by the President, the Vice President for Instruction initiates the process to publish the position vacancy announcement and/or post the announcement internally as appropriate, contact those who have applications on file as appropriate, receive applications, and prepare files for the Selection and Interview Committee. The Selection and Interview Committee will consist of five administrators, faculty and/or staff members selected by the appropriate administrator and approved by the President. a. The Selection and Interview Committee is to submit a list of questions to be used in the interview process to the Vice President for Instruction or other appropriate personnel serving as the chairperson of the committee for approval prior to interviews. b. The Selection and Interview Committee is to review all of the applications and determine the candidate(s) selected for an interview. c. The Selection and Interview Committee is to conduct the interviews. d. A component of the interview process for all full-time teaching faculty positions will be a teaching demonstration conducted by each candidate. e. Each candidate selected for an interview is to be introduced to the Vice President for Instruction and the President as they are available. 2. The Selection and Interview Committee Chairperson drafts a preliminary recommendation for two candidates, listed in order of preference, to be submitted to the President. a. The recommendation is to be signed by a majority of the members of the Selection and Interview Committee. b. The signed recommendation, along with the credentials of all applicants, is forwarded to the Vice President for Instruction. c. The Vice President for Instruction reviews the credentials of all applicants. d. The Vice President for Instruction has the option of scheduling additional interviews of applicants as needed. 3. The Vice President for Instruction may concur or not concur with the recommendation of the Selection and Interview Committee. a. In the event of non-concurrence, the Vice President for Instruction is to return the recommendation to the Selection and Interview Committee with written reasons for the rejection. The Selection and Interview Committee will then reconsider the applicants. b. If the Vice President for Instruction, or other appropriate administrator, concurs, then a statement of concurrence is to be affixed to the recommendation of the Screening Committee. c.
