Policy Title: GENERAL POLICIES RELATED TO FULL-TIME HOURLY PERSONNEL
1. Sick leave is allotted on the basis of one (1) day per month credited on the last working day each month with unlimited accumulation. 2. In determining total overtime hours worked, hours of leave time with pay (personal and major medical leave), vacation, jury duty and/or hours taken on approved College paid holidays during the workweek are not counted as time worked in computing overtime pay. For example, during the week of New Year’s, an employee works the following schedule:
Monday Tuesday
8 hours 8 hours 8 hours 8 hours 6 hours
Wednesday Thursday
8 hours - New Year’s Day - Off with pay
Friday Saturday

Ordinarily the six (6) hours on Saturday would constitute overtime pay but since the total hours worked included the hours of a holiday off with pay, no overtime is counted. 3. Each employee is required to pay social security, state employee retirement, and the withholding taxes of state and federal governments. 4. Group health insurance is available to all full-time employees and to part-time employees working 20 hours or more per week on an annual basis or as determined by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Additional benefits are available at extra cost to the employee. 5. Each maintenance employee who has been with the institution at least three (3) months will be furnished five uniforms. (Staff responsible for cleaning of uniforms.) 6. In the event of illness or inability to report for work, the employee’s immediate supervisor or appropriate vice president should be notified at the earliest time possible. 7. In the event the employee is required to report for jury duty, no pay will be withheld; however, no overtime will be counted unless in excess of time absent for jury duty. 8. Only those hours over forty (40) per week will be considered overtime. All overtime work will merit time and a half for pay purposes.
9. Working hours for maintenance employees are:
First Shift Housekeeping Monday - Friday 4:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.; 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Second Shift Housekeeping, Grounds, and Skilled Labor Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon; 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
