Policy Title: POLICY ON COLLEGE-OWNED HOUSING
The following shall be considered the official policies of the East Central Community College Board of Trustees as pertains to the provision, maintenance, and disposition of housing for the use of and/or assignment to college personnel. 1. Existing college-owned houses will be maintained and repaired as long as they are structurally sound as funds are available. 2. No new single unit houses will be constructed or renovated without adequate study and approval by the Board of Trustees. 3. All repairs on college-owned housing that are estimated to exceed $5,000 shall have advance approval by the Board of Trustees. 4. If property is to be disposed of, it will be appraised by a certified appraiser and advertised for sale according to state law. 5. College employees who are not required to live in college-owned housing are encouraged to provide their own housing after a five-year period. 7. The Board of Trustees will upon recommendation of the President determine the amount of rent to be charged for college-owned housing. 8. The College reserves the right to inspect any college-owned house at any time provided notice has been given to the occupants at least twenty-four hours prior to the visit. 9. The College reserves the right to move an occupant from one house to a vacant house when extensive repairs are needed or when other circumstances may warrant such moves. 1. Rent must be paid at the beginning of each month or may be deducted from payroll checks provided the necessary arrangements are made in the Business Office. 2. Occupants must agree to keep the housing units and yards clean and in a presentable manner. The upkeep of the yard is the responsibility of the occupants. 3. Pets may be kept provided they do not become a nuisance to the neighbors. This does not apply to Leake Hall residents as pets are not allowed in that facility. 6. College housing units will be available to contracted personnel only. Requirements of Occupants

5. Requests for repairs will be made in writing to the Vice President for Business Operations and Superintendent of the Physical Plant.
