A pair of teams coming off their first wins of the season look to keep that sudden success alive Thursday night in junior college football action.
Mississippi Gulf Coast travels to Decatur to face South Division foe East Central. Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Warriors is set for at 6:30 p.m. in Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus.
The Bulldogs upset third ranked Co-Lin last week 21-7. Gulf Coast played solid defense forcing four turnovers, and the Bulldogs running game paved the way for a fourth-quarter two touchdown surge that broke a 7-7 tie and secured the win moving MGCCC to 1-2 on the year in the South Division opener for both teams.
"We challenged the 0-line and the D-line to control the line of scrimmage, to be the most physical football team." Bulldogs third year head coach Chad Huff said. "The most physical football team was going to win the game. I thought we did that."
Jonathan Nance gave Gulf Coast the lead with a 56-yard touchdown reception with 10:54 to play. Linebacker Justin Stewart iced the game with a 76-yard fumble return for a touchdown just over two minutes later. CLAKIUN-LCUUt:n -------'=====--- MERi DIAN STAR ----,,---::--::--
