"They wore wi~h p··~J~ homemade uniforms with felt cut-out num– bers sewn on. They paid for their own shoe~ and meals, and did not receive <>cholarships. They were true amateur athletes, and if it were not for these •..vomen, there would be no I'ltle IX and none of the opportunities that arc avail– able for women athletes today. They deserve to have EC letters just like the varsity athletes of today." Wood noted that many club team members were campus leaders and involved in varwus activities. "AU were good shtdents with civic pride who wanted to play ball," Wood stated. Other reunion groups scheduled to meet include the Class of 1937, Classes of 1957, 1958 and 1959, the Alumni Band and Central– ettes, and members of all classes ending m "3."
