ECCC To Observe 75th Anniversary During Special Program August 28 East Central Communi~y College will observe its 75tli anniversary during a special program scheduled Thursday, August 28, 2003, on the Decatur campus. A reception from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Gold Room of Mabry Memorial Cafeteria officially begins the day,s activ– ities and will be followed by a program slated to start at 10:45 a.m. in Huff Auditorium. LucilleWood, longtime ECCC faculty member and former women,s basketball coach, will be the featured speaker. Also speaking will be Dr. Phil A. Sutphin, current ECCC president, and former presidents Dr. Eddie M. Smith of Decatur and Arno Vincent of Meridian. Other program participants are General Denver Brackl>en of Union, representing the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges; Prentice Copeland of Philadelphia, Chairman of the ECCC Board of Trustees; Dr. Lavinia Sparkman, ECCC vice president for instruction; and the Rev. Chris Vowell of Philadelphia. The ECCC Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Chris Jenkins, will provide special music. · A complimentary lunch will be served on the East Mall (near the cafeteria) following the ceremony.
