Honorees for the 2003 observantl." include Frances Harris Smith (Class ci 1930) of Decatur, Alumna of the Year Dr. Milton Matthews (Class of 1958) of PearL Alumnus of theYear; Dana Dear of Hickory. Academic Instructor of,the Year; and Katherine Buckman of Bay Springs, Vocational-Technical Instructor of the Year. Also being recog– nized are four new members of the College's Athletic Hall of Fame - the late Roy Baker of Jackson (Class of 1956), Imogene Johnson Borganelli (Class of 1947) of Greenville, Rex Keeton (Class of 1964) of Taylorsville and Mark Killens (Class of 1978) of Newton. More than 60 members of women's club teams from 1956 to 1975 plan to attend reunion activities and receive their varsity letters, according to event organizer and coach Lucille Wood. Wood said the event is something she bas anticipated doing for a long time. "The ladies who played on the ECJC baskethall. tennis and volleyball teams from 1956 to the spring of 1975 truly paved the way for women's sports as they are known today. 'They wore with pride homemade uniforms With felt cut-out numbers sewn on. They paid for their own shoes
