D.26 DIRECTOR OF CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION

General Statement of the Function : The Director of Career & Technical Education reports directly to the Dean of Workforce Education and Development. The Director is responsible for general supervision of all Career & Technical Education conducted under the authority of East Central Community College within the District.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Serves as division chairman for Career & Technical Education Division; 2. Assists the Division Dean, the Vice President for Instruction, and the Admissions Director in determining class needs in the career and technical education areas each semester; 3. Represents the Division on the Curriculum Committee; 4. Assists in the selection of instructional resource materials and their utilization by the Career & Technical Education faculty and students; 5. Coordinates and compiles the Career & Technical Education program budgets; 6. Approves all purchase order requests for the Division and routes them to the Dean; 7. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, follow-up studies, equipment requests, local plans, applications and all other items to be submitted to the State Board for Community/Junior Colleges and the Mississippi Department of Education for secondary programs; 8. Represents the College at State meetings of directors and at conferences and workshops planned and implemented by the State Department of Education; 9. Coordinates the selection of and works with craft committees from business and industry in the district who serve as advisors in program planning and improvement; 10. Assists the career & technical faculty in meeting professional qualifications by keeping them informed about requirements and professional improvement opportunities; 11. Assists the career & technical faculty in preparing and updating course syllabi and in selecting and securing teaching materials; 12. Meets with the College Administrative Council on the first Monday of each month; 13. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies used within the instructional programs of the division; 14. Remains current on occupational needs, employment opportunities, and training needs in the district; 15. Performs other duties as assigned.
