Santa and Mrs. Claus ride at the end of the Newton Christmas Parade Thursday night. Santa also participated in a "flash dance" number when the parade got to the intersection of Main and Church streets.

'The Christmas season is in full swing, after two communi ties ushered in the holiday season with parades while two other communities had their parades rained out. Newton kicked it off on Thursday night with its pa rade. Decatur also held its an nual parade on Friday followed by the ECCC Warrior Wonderland. The Whistlestop Market place was conducted on Sat urday, along with tours of the Kansas City Holiday &'Press. However, the rainy weather rained out Union and Hick ory's parades, along with Newton United Methodist Church's drive-thru nativity. Union held its rescheduled parade on Tuesday.
