Coming off one of the most successful seasons in school history, the East Central Community Col lege football team will open its 2016 season at home against Holmes Community College on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Bai ley Stadium on the cam pus in Decatur. The Warriors will face a tough 2016 schedule that includes three teams that were ranked in the top 10 in the final Nation al Junior College Athletic Association Top 20 Poll of 2015. "I think we have a very competitive 2016 sched ule, and we are excited to play in front of our home fans five times this upcoming season," said ECCC head football coach Ken Karcher. "Playing in this league is difficult whether at home or on the road, but we look for ward to the challenge." The Warriors will fol
travel to defending national champion North west Mississippi Commu nity College on Oct. 20, followed by the last game of the season at South west Mississippi Commu nity College for its home coming Saturday, Oct. 29, at 5 p.m. East Central capped off its best season in 16 years last December with a 35-21 win over No. 20 Kilgore College in the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl. The Warriors finished the 2015 season with an· 8-3 record, the best won loss record since 1999. The Warriors were ranked No. 10 in the final 2015 NJCAA Top 20 Poll.

East Central will then host Mississippi Gulf Coast Community Col lege, which finished last season at No. 8 in the nation, on Sept. 22. That will be followed by a road trip to Wesson Sept. 29 to play Copiah-Lincoln, last season's No. 4 ranked team. Following a home game against Jones Coun ty Junior College Oct. 6, the annual East Central Community College Homecoming game and festivities will take place Saturday, Oct. 15, as Hinds Community College visits Bailey Stadium.
