Local stars pumped to continue careers

It was a momentous day for a host of local high school football players Wednesday.

More than 40 players within the !"!~!t.!~~-~~~g-~~-rj~_t!'s coverage area put pen to paper on National Signing Day, applying their respective signatures to National Letters of Intent. Oak Grove featured 1 o signees, while Hattiesburg added six and .P.~!~! had four. Among the top prospects in the Pine Belt to make their collegiate destinations known were .P.~~~~xt~!!~!l. ~~!~S.t)?!l. kicker Luke Logan, who signed with Ole Miss, and Bassfield's Racheem Boothe and Jerome Johnson, who inked to Southern Miss and Indiana re,i;pectively. Logan, who drew plenty of attention in 2015 after booting a 56-yard field goal, said he dreamed of kicking in college since he was in junior high.

"It feels great," he said. "It's a dream come true. You know, to finally sign with what's been the school of my dreams since about the third grade. It's a really exciting day for me. It's great to have the family here and especially the guys that have been out there on the football field with me. I owe it all to my holder, my snapper and my line. I couldn't do any of this without them or without this family behind me and coaching staff. They've been with me A every step of the way."
