Report card shows high marks for ECCC in student success Special to The Star

Therefore, each report card includes information for the specific community/ junior college, along with corresponding figures for the state system, which includes all 15 Mississ;,>pi community/junior colleges. Information contained in the report includes stu dent enrollment, degrees awarded, student success, student retention, student progress, workforce devel opment information, and GED• and adult basic edu cation statistics, as well as enrollment and success in development or remedial coursework (college read iness). In the 2015 Commu nity College Report Card, ECCC compared well against state averages in numerous categories. East Central achieved elite status in Total Student Suc cess and Student Progress, or progression towards graduation offull-time, fmt-time students through two years. ECCC also saw a dramatic increase in com

pletions from 419 to 576 over the previous year. Overall graduation rate, retention of students in for-credit programs, number of students served through workforce training activities, and develop mental mathematics stu dents completing College Algebra were other areas in which ECCC was among the leaders in the state. In addition, East Central had a positive employment impact in its five-county district of Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott, and Win ston counties, ranking high in the state in the increase in the number ofworkforce trainees finding employ ment and in wages earned by certificate completers. In accordance with Mississippi House Bill No. 1071 from the 2010 legis lative session, East Central Community College in Decatur has released its 2015 Community College Performance Profile, or Report Card. The bill cre ated an Education Achieve ment Council which was established to set education achievement goals for insti tutions ofhigher learning and community and junior colleges in the state and to assist in monitoring prog ress towards those goals through the preparation of annual institutional and state report cards. The Community College Report Card, designed to reflect the unique mission ofcom munity colleges, incor porates measures closely aligned with the Voluntary Framework ofAccount ability developed by the American Association ofCommunity Colleges.
