ECCC gears up for last three games to close out December

brought down 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Khelsea Foster of Arcadia (La.) High School was the leading scorer for ECCC with 25 po~nts. Laneisha Jeans of Pine Forest (Fla.) High School added 20 points for the Lady Warriors. ECCC held a one-point lead after one quarter and was up at the intermission by four, 54-50. However, a strong third quarter by Coahoma gave the Lady Tigers a one point lead, 75-74, before East Central took control in the final period. The East Central Lady Warriors are now to 3-1 on the season, with two of those wins coming against Coahoma. win over the Coahoma Community College Tigers Monday, Nov. 14, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur. The Warriors trailed by a dozen at the half, but outscored the Tigers by 20 in points the second half to pull off the comeback win. ECCC's Alvin "A.J." McFarland tied the game with a basket late in the second half, and a layup by sopho more forward Tonzell Handy of Lanier High School gave the Warriors take the lead they would not relinquish with 1:45 left in the ballgame. Handy led East Central with 19 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and two assists. Cayman "CJ." Ruffin of Neshoba Central High School and Cameron Diggs of Blount (Ala.) High School added 12 points each.

The East Central basketball teains will play three games in December before breaking for the Christmas holidays. The Warrior teams return to action Monday, December 5, at Southwest. They host Northeast on Thursday, December 8 and then close out 2016 on December 12 at Shelton State. The East Central Community College Lady Warriors had three players score 20 or ·more points en route to a high-scoring 104-97 victory against Coahoma Community College Monday, Nov. 14, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium on the Decatur campus.
