The free event will begin at 10 a.m at Bailey Stadium and will include activities for the entir e family, including a football team scrimmage, alumni soccer games 1 music, inflatables and wiffie ball for youngsters. A picnic lunch, includ– ing a crawfish boil, ham– burgers, sausage dogs and more will be served at 12:30 p.m. Activities will conclude as the Diamond Warrior baseball team faces Northeast Mississippi Community College in a 2 p.m. doubleheader. The Muse Scholarship will be awarded each year to a student who meets the following criteria: • A full-time ECCC stu- dent pursuing an educa– tional degree (academic or career/technical field) at any location of the ECCC district; • Maintain full-time status (enrolled in 15 or more hours per semester and successfully complet– ing a minimum of 12 hours per semester); • Have a 2.5 or better high school and/or ECCC grade point average; and • Be free of any discipli– nary problems. No part of the endow– ment corpus will be used for the scholarship award. Scholarship r ecipients will be selected by the ECCC Scholarship Com– mittee.

He also held positions as superintendent of edu– cation for both the :Meri– dian Municipal Separate School District and Hinds County Public Schools. Mrs. Muse also devoted her life to education, serv– ing in the Starkville, Hinds County and Lau– derdale County school sys– tems prior to joining the Hinds Community College staff in 1980. She taught full-time at Hinds from 1980 until retirement in 2002. In 2006 the Mississippi Association for Develop– mental Education named its most prestigious award in her honor. \ She received various local and national awards and in April 2010, the Mississippi Legislature presented a joint resolu-

It was among several approved by the College's Board of Trustees at its February meeting. Dr. Vernon Clyde Muse devoted his life to educa– tion and has served as president of Hinds Com– munity College since 1978. He is a graduate of Sebastopol High School, East Central Junior Col– lege, Delta State Univer– sity and received master's and doctoral degrees from Mississippi State Univer– sity. He began bis career at Canton High School as a science teacher and coach. He later served as a high school principal and then became assistant
