ECCCsoftball squad sweeps MarionMilitary

In addition to Gibson, runs were scored by Turner (3), Aldous (2), Lavender (2), Benson (2), Hannaford, Lee, Duke, Holsonback and Ellis. .Lacey Hill was the winning pitcher. She went three in– nings and allowed one earned runs on three hits. She also fanned two batters and walked one. Hill is a product of Kilbourne (La.) Higil School. In the second game, Ellis had a double and two singles and Nowell had three singles to lead the ECCC offense. Ellis led in RBis with three. Other hitters were Gibson double and single; Turner: two singles; and Aldous, Hannaford and Benson, each with a single. Runs were scored by Turner (3), Gibson, Aldous, Benson, Nowell and Ellis. Leake Academy product Chloe Thaggard got the win. She allowed no runs on three hits in five innings. She struck out six batters and walked one. EC's softball program is led by head coach Kristin Chaney and assistant Court– ney Nunn.

East Central Community College's fast-pitch softball squad swept Marion Military in double-header action Thursday, Feb. 12 on the De– catur campus. The Lady Diamond War– riors took an early lead in game one to capture a 16-5 victory over the Lady Tigers and completed' the sweep with an 8-0 shutout. In game one, Mahalia Gib– son of Oak Grove High School went 4-4, including two doubles, to lead the Lady Warrior offense. She also scored two runs and had three RBis. · Other hitters were Caitlyn Aldous of Petal, Mallory Lee of Quitman and Maegen Ellis, a product of Oak Hill Academy in West Point, each with a double and single; Karoline Holsonback, a product of South Lamar High School in Kennedy, Ala., double; Mallory Turner of West Lauderdale and Christen Benson of Brookhaven, two singles each; and Rachel Davis of Petal, single.
