Mann gets induction to JUCO Hall of Fame Marcus Mann of

After graduation from Mississippi Valley State University, he was select– ed by the Golden State Warriors in the 1996 National Basketball Asso– ciation draft as t he 11th pick in the second rounc a nd the 40th se lection overall. After reaching his goal of being a player in the NBA, Mann decided to fol– low a call to become an ordained minister. He cur– rently serves as pastor of F irst Baptist M .B. Church, Carthage, Miss., and is a full-time chaplain for Tyson Foods, Inc. , in Forest.
Carthage, a 1994 gradu– ate of East Central Com– munity College, will be inducted into the Missis– sippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame dur– ing ceremonies April 28 on the Rankin Campus of Hinds Community Col– lege. A native of Carthage and a graduate of South Leake High School, Mann helped lead East Central to its first state champi– onship in men's basket– ball in 40 years in 1993. He was a First Team All– American selection and was twice named to the National Junior College Athletic Association AU– Region 23 and All-State teams. Mann was inducted into the ECCC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. He is also a member of the
MANN East Central Academic Hal1 of Fame. Mann went on to star for Mississippi Valley State University, leading the Delta Devils to the Southwest Athletic Con-
