Kaley Bufkin of Newton County High chool at No. 4 Singles both won their quarterfinal matches on the first day of competition Thursday to advance to the semifi– nals, which were played Friday. Peoples and Mackie Smith of Newton County High School won their match at No. 2 Doubles to reach quarterfinal competition. All three East Central men's doubles teams are in quarterfinal action. After reaching his goal of being a player in the NBA, Mann decided to follow a call to become · an ordained minister. He currently serves as pastor of First Baptist M.B. Church in Carthage and is a full-time chaplain for Tyson Foods, Inc.• in Forest.

DECATUR - Marcus Mann of Carthage, a 1994 graduate of East Central Community College, will be inducted into the Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame during ceremonies April 28 on th e Rankin Campus of Hinds Community College. A native of Carthage and a graduate of South Leake High School, Mann helped lead East Central to its first state champi– onship in men's basketball in 40 years in 1993. He was a First Team All-American selection and was twice named to the National Junior
' State teams. Mann was
inducted into the ECCC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. He is also a member of the East Central Aca-
