named . . Thompson was employed at Belhaven College from 1993-96, where in addition to duties as a men's basketball assistant he served as cross COWltry coach. He began his coaching career in 1992- 93 as an assistant men's basketball coach at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas, where helped lead the Jayhawks to .their most wins in the school's history (23) and first division championship in 25 years. Thompson was a standout basketball player at Shannon High School and con– tinued his athletic career at Belhaven CoJ– lege, where the four-year letter-winner served as team captain from 1989-92. He was also a member of the Fellow– ship of Christian Athletes and Student Govenunent Association Executive Coun– cil. He was elected a Senior Senator in 1991. He received a bachelor's degree in physical education from Belhaven College in 1992 and completed a master's degree in physical education from Jackson State University in 1997. Coach Thompson is married to the for– mer Freda Rowe ofLouisville. They have two sons, Joshua, 15; and Justin, nine. ECCC lids' C.lege Sclledlled A Spa Kamp for ages 5-15 on July 1 and 2 kicks off the 2013 Kids' College Program at East Central Community College. Activities for ages 5-12 contin– ue during the month of July with classes ranging from athletics to cake decorat– ing and law enforcement.
