Signa's one-hitter propels East Central to MACJC title Right hander Severino Signa hurled a one-hit, 4-0 shutout to lead East Central Community College to the 2013 state championship over Northwest Mississippi in the MACJC State Tournament title bout here Sunday in Wildcat Stadium on the Pearl River CC campus.

ECCC, 30-19, will now enter the Region 23 Tournament next Thursday through Saturday as the No. 1 seed . That event will also be played at PRCC.

Signa, a sophomore from Stoneville, struck out five Warrior batters and didn't give up a hit- a one– out single by Walt McCullough - until the top of the eighth inning to NWCC's.

The victorious Warriors went up 2-0 in the bottom of the third before adding solo runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Chase Domino paced East Central's seven-hit effort with a solo homer and two singles (two RBis), while Tim Anderson had three base hits (two RBis) and Xzavier Franklin doubled and singled.

East Central opened the tournament on Thursday with a 19-1 (six innings) demolition of Northeast Mississippi, which was eliminated Saturday via Northwest's 3-0 victory. Pearl River downed Northwest 7-3 in opening -round action and fell to ECCC 7-6 in 10 innings before NWCC followed with a 16-4 (six inn ings) revenge blow out to eliminate the eighth-ranked Wildcats and wrap Saturday's action . East Central and Northwest are the top two seeds in this week's regionals, followed by No. 3 and top– ranked LSU-Eunice (La.) and No. 4 Pearl River. The Region 23 champion advances to the NJCAA Division II World Series set for May 26 through June 1 in Enid, Okla.
