Softball: East Central's Jordyn Scarbrough signs with East Central CC

The colors ofthe uniform will be changing for Jordyn Scarbrough, but not the name ofthe school she will be attending. The East Central High School softball pitcher signed Wednesday to play at East Central Community College, located in Decatur. She'll trade in the maroon and white ofthe Hornets for the black and gold of the Warriors beginning next season. "She's been a great pitcher and a great kid and fought through a lot of injuries, and I'm really proud she's getting to move on and play at the next level," East Central coach Kyle Long said. "That's the goal for our program."

Scarbrough has been the Hornets' No. 1 pitcher since midway through her freshman season, including when she helped East Central reach the sA South State finals last year. East Central is 16-5 this season, leading the Division 7-5A standings with two league games remaining. Scarbrough has missed extensive time with a back injury this season, but is s-o with a 0.94 ERA and just 16 hits allowed in 29.2 innings. She pitched a no-bitter in the Hornets' 4-0 division win over Pascagoula on March 23.

Scarbrough and East Central return to action at home Saturday for a doubleheader with Vancleave, then travel to Pascagoula for a division game on Monday.
