EC women struggle in showdown with Co-Lin

Appeal Sports Editor The East Central Communit)' College Lady Warriors went 1-1 on the hardwood last week and brought a I 5-S record into this week. The EC men dropped both of their games last week to fa ll to 8-12. After Monday's open date, the EC teams return to action Thursday at Summit against Southwest Mississippi Community College. EC host Hinds Community College on Monday, Feb. 9. Game times are 6 and 8 p.m. EC women 80 Jones 77 Soph'omorc Mystee Dale buried a wide- open 3-pointer from the top of the key with just under 10 seconds remaining to give the Lady Warriors the three-point win at Decatur on January 26. Dale scored 34 points as EC improved to 15-4 overall and 5-l in division play. The Lady Warriors also got 16 points from Hannah Lee, II fro\11 Rashima Jenkins, seven from DeShouri Spates. and five from Alisha McAfee. TcAnna Carter Jed Jones ( 13-5, 4-2) with 20 poinH.. EC led 45-38 at halftime only to have Jones draw even at 77 with 22 seconds left. Jones 98 EC men 96 Brian mgleton's lay-in at the hom ga"e the Bobcats the overtime win on January 26 at Decatur. EC led 82-78 with 13 seconds left in reg– ulation but was unable to hold on. The Bobcats took control in the extra peri– od and jumped out to a 94-89 lead with 2:22 remaining. EC' Scooter Walker tied the contest at 94-94 on a pair of two free throws with 37.2 seconds remaining to set the stage for Singleton.

EC (8-12, 2-5) got 10 points each from Scooter \\'alker and Josh Luckett. Luckett also had six boards. Rod Loflon and Antonio Grace added six points apiece. Co-Lin (I 0-l 0. 4-3) was paced by Trent Hutchin's 28 points. Co-Lin led 38-26 at halftime.
