GORDY RECEIVES PACE SCHOLARSHIP
SPECIAl TO THE TIMES Marissa Gordy (center) of Forest is the 2009 recipient of The Polk and Jennie Pace Schol– arship provided at East Central Community College. Gordy, a graduate of East Rankin Acad– emy, received the award at the annual AT&T Scholarship Appreciation luncheon held on the Decatur campus. She is pictured with the Pace's daughter, Reba Debarl and her hus– band Gerald, of Pensacola, FL. The scholarship was endowed In March 1997 by Mr. Pace's widow, Scott County native Jennie Thrash Pace of Newton, their children and grandchil– dren and other family members and friends. The scholarship honors Mr. Lawrence Polk Pace, a Conehatta native, who was a •strong believer In education." Pace attended EC In 1929.
