match by an 8-4 score, and Lorenzo Jones of Newton and Phillip Savell of Philadelphia cruised to an 8-3 win. Keith Brown of Forest and partner Josh Moore of Newton were edged 10-8 in their contest. EC players winning their respective singles competition included Walker (6-1, 6-0), Wade (6-2, 6-3) and Savell (6-4, 3-§, 10-6). Losses were regis– tered by Brown (6-3, 4-6, 5-10), Moore (6-1, 4-6, 8· 10) and Jones (5-7, 4-6). The EC women fell 8-1 to the LadyWildcats and dipped to 4- 8 in season action. Cheryl Dowell of Lena was the lone winner for EC, as she claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory in singles. Losses were incurred

by Dru Anderson of Decatur (6- 2, 1-6, 10-12) and Julie Gaines of Philadelphia (6-1, 4-6, 7-10). Anderson and Gaines also fell in their doubles mat ch (4-6). The other matches were for– feits. In the matchups with Copiah– Lincoln, the Warriors claimed a 6-3 win and the Lady War– riors fell 7- l Walker and Wade won their doubles match by an 8-4 score and Chris King of Louisville and J ones were also victorious by "posting an 8-4 decision. Moor e and Brown were defeat– ed in their doubles match also by an 8-4 score. In singles competition, War– riors winning their respective matches included Walker (4-6,

6-2, 10-6), Brown (6-2, 6-2), Wade (6-0, 6-1) and Jones (6-2, 6-2). Moore · and~' King were defeated in their matches by scores of 4-6, 6-2, 8-10 and 2-6, 0-6 respectively. In women's action, Nichole Ball of Louisville posted the only win for the Lady Warriors with her 6-3, 1-6 and 10-8 vic– t ory in singles competition. Also competing in singles and th~ir respective scores were Anderson (2-6, 1-6), Gaines (0- 6, 2-6) and Dowell (1-6, 0-6). Anderson and Ball were nipped 8-6 in doubles a nd Dowell and Gaines fell 8-1 in their matchup. Serving as ECCC tennis coaches are Dianne and Pat O'Neil and Kyle Watson. lr- 'Z z >- .. The East Central Community College men's tennis team evened its 2008 record to 6·6 after posting wins over Pearl River Community College April 5 in Hattiesburg and Copiah-Lincoln Community College April 2 on the Decatur campus. The Lady Warriors were not as (ortunate and fell in both matchups. Against Pearl River, the EC men slipped past the Wildcats by a 5-4 margin after taking two of three doubles matches and splitting the singles com– petit ion.
