Humanities counci l honors Tony Kinton In ceremonies Friday in
Jackson, Leake County's Tony Kinton was recognized by the Mississippi Humanities Coun– cil. In ceremonies for the 2006 Public Humanities Achieve– men t Awards, Ki nton was among a host of recipients of Humanities Teacher Awards. The recognition reflected a presentation made in October by East Central Community College. The teacher awards were
part of Arts and Humanities Month in October, and 32 teachers were honored. Those honored presented tion and Southeastern Outdoor public lectures on topics in Press Association. their fields for students, col-
leges and the public.
Kinton, a Leake County native, joined the ECCC facul– ty full time in 1999, after teaching advanced placement English and Mississippi writ– e r s at Philadelphia High School for seven years. He has also taught English as a n adjunct instructor for Meridian Community College and ECCC. At ECCC he teaches devel– opmental English, English composition I, and American literature.
