ECCC women win two more Special to the Record East Central Community College's Lady Warriors played like a team on a mission Monday night as they cruised to a 79-66 win over visiting Pearl River Community College in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. The EC women - who led by as many as 26 points during first-half action and settled for a 43-21 advantage at the break– improved to 12-5 overall and 4-3 in MACJC South Division action under sec– ond-year head coach Billy Smith folloWing the victo– ry, while the Lady Wildcats dropped to 11·7 and are also 4-3 in league play. Valerie Harris of Lake was the top scorer for EC, as she rattled the boards for 25 points. Newton County High School prod– uct Andrea Dubose also had ~ productive night, pumpmg in 20 points which included five three– point shots. Also scoring for EC were Earnesto Green of Provine, 19; Marquis Wil– son of Delhi, La.. 11; Craig Pruitt of Newton County, four; Darron 1\laxtion of Harvest. Ala., and Bran– don Shelton of Newton, two each. Henry Salter of Gulfport poured in 19 points to lead the Bulldogs, who improved to 12-5 and 5-1 and Beverly Hutchinson, a product of Lee High School in Baton Rouge, one each. Shonderlette Paul of Baton Rouge poured in 25 points to lead Pearl River. In men's action, the War– riors' second-half rally fell short as the Wildcats held on for a 77-67 decision. With the loss, EC dropped to 5-12 overall and 1·6 in division competition under first-year head coach Maurice Bowie. The Warriors, who trailed 35-22 at halftime, cut the Wildcat lead to 64- 56 with 4;24 remaining but could get:,no closer as Pearl River improved to 10-7 and 5-2. Earnesto Green of Jack– son Provine and Mike Pre– sendieu, a product of New Dimension HS in Orlando, had 15 points each to lead the Warriors in scoring.
