' EC Warrior Inks With BC

DECATUR-At least five members of the state champion East Central Community College baseball team are 'continuing their careers on the university or four-year col– lege level, announced Diamond Warrior head coach Neal Holliman. Pitcher Joe Patterson of Morton signed with Belhaven College. Patterson, a 6-4, 240-pound right-hander, went 7-6 on the mound and posted a 3.43 ERA throqgh 83 2/3 innings. He fanned 48 batters and had one save. The Morton High School product received second team All-State hon– ors and was selected the Diamond Warriors' most valuable pitcher. Others moving up the collegiate ranks include: pitcher Josh Denson; catcher I infielder I outfielder Warren Bowling (Mississippi College); pitcher/right fielder George Washington (University of Alabama-Huntsville); and catcher/infielder

Jacob Thames (William Woods College). "We are very proud of these young men and truly feel they will have a positive impact on the programs they are join– ing," said Holliman regarding his former players. "Each one of these guys understands

The Diamond Warriors completed their state championship season with the Region 23 Tournament en route to a 31-23 record under first-year head coach Holliman, who was named MACJC Baseball Coach of the Year following the successful campaign.
