The basketball success cut into Chaney's play ing time in softball as the seasons overlapped for a few weeks both years. "I wish I could have played all the (softball) games with them." Chaney said. "After the sue cessful year we had. we wish we could have gone a little bit further, but we had a good season and can't hold our heads on it." Awards Chaney received as a freshman includ– ed first team all-state and a spot on the All-Region 23 Tournament Team. She was also named ECCC's Newcomer of the Year Chaney was also named to the 2005 ECCC Hall of Fame, the highest honor a student can receive at the college. The Newton County High School graduate is the daughter of Ricky and Brenda Chaney ofLittle Rock.

Chaney received second team AU-American honors in 2004 after leading the Lady Diamond Warriors to the Central Divi~ion runner-up title and a berth in the state/region tournament en route to a 26-16 record. She batted .423 with four triples. seven doubles and l 5 RBis. She also scored 34 runs. She was also chosen All-Region 23. All State. and All-Central Division as a freshman and was named ECCC 's Most Valuable Player. Chaney is also a two-year standout on the Lady Warrior basketball team. earning second-team All– American honors in Divi~ion I for the 2004 05 campaign after leading the Lady Warriors to a sec– ond place finish in the Region 23,Tournament and a 20-10 record. ~ She was also named All Region 23 and all– state and was selected for the MACJC Ali·Star and AU-Region 23 Tournament teams. She wa~ also selected ECCC's Most Valuable Player and received the team co-captain award this year. Chaney averaged 13 points. four assists. 1nd two steals during the 2004 05 season The 2003·04 lady Warrior basketball squad won the MACJC South Divhion and state cham– pionships, along with the Region 23 Tournament
