Honors Keeton received included his selection as most valuable lineman in 1964 by the Mississippi Junior College Athletic Association. He was also named first– team All-State and was chosen team captain by his fellow Warriors. Keeton continued his ath– letic career at Delta State Uni– versity, where he was a two– year starter as an offensive and defensive lineman.

Highlights of his coaching career include winning the North Big Eight Conference championship and a bowl game while at Greenwood, followed by a North Little Dixie Confer– ence title captured at Morton. Killens had a stellar career at quarterback as a member of the 1977 and 1978 Warrior squads, directed by bead coach Ken Pouncey. He especially enjoyed suc– cess during his sophomore sea– son, as he led the Warriors to a 6-3-1 record, which included a 21-16 upset of the undefeated Jones County Junior College Bobcats , who were ranked third in the nation prior to the season-ending match-up. Killens received All-State and All-Star honors following the 1978 campaign. He was also selected perma– nent team captain and was chosen the Warriors' most valu– able offensive back. In addition to playing foot– ball Killens was a member of the Wa ·1 .or baseball team his freshman ... eason.
Killens continued his ath– letic career at Delta State Uni– versity, where he was a two– year letterman. He is also a former standout at Union High School, lettering four years in basketball and baseball, and three years in football.
