Education In Brief Westbrook Holds New ECCC Position Ronald B. Westbrook of Louisville has been named Director of the Small Business Development Center at East Central Communi– ty College, announced Dr. Eddie M. Smith, college president.

The SBD Center is a new ven– ture for East Central and will be operated in conjunction with the University of Mississippi. "The Center represents East Central's continuing efforts to assist with economic development in the college's five-county district," Dr. Smith said. Westbrook's of– fice will be located in the col– lege's new One-Stop Career Center due for construction next year. As Center Director, Westbrook is responsible for directing, managing and marketing business and educa– tional services programs for

Germany Selected ECCC Student Recruiter Joseph R. Germany of Union has been chosen for membership in the East Central Community CoJJe~e Warrior Corps, an organiZation composed of students who assist in recrulling and senoe as hosts for various ac– tivities held on the Decatur cam– pus. The selec t group is.sponsored by RandaJJ Lee, academic counselor. Germany is a graduate of Union High School where he was named to Who's Who in High School Bands. · At East Central, the sophomore auto body and repair technology major won first place honors in the State VlCA competition and finished 11th in the National VICA SkiJI Olympics in Kansas City' Missouri. He currently serves as reporter for the State VICA organization. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Germany of Union.

Westbrook, a Winston county native, previously served as Senior Vice President at Bridge City (Texas) State Bank. His experience in the banking industry also includes various positions held at MBank in Port Arthur, Texas and Hancock Bank in Gulfport. In addition, he has worked with several community organizations including Cub Scouts, Chambers of Commerce and United Way. A graduate of Winston Academy, Westbrook attended East Cen– tral on a basketball scholarship and obtained an associate degree. He continued his education at Mississippi State University where he received a bachelor of science degree in banking and finance. He and his wife Valorie have two sons, Hastings, 9, and Robert, 6.
