DECATUR -- East Central Com– munity College has announced the h iring of Paul Martin "Marty" ooper as its new men's basketball J;oach. Cooper was approved by the ~CCC Board of Trustees Tuesday afternoon in its monthly meeting. Cooper graduated from Rio Grande (Ohio) College with a B.S. Degree in communications in 1986. He earned an M.A. Degree in sports tudies in 1988. Cooper was a junior high basket– all coach at Jackson, Ohio 1984-85) ; was the head freshman ketball coach at Talawanda High J)chool in Oxford, Ohio 0985-86); •as an assistant basketball coach at 1\rmstrong State College in Savan– Ga. (1986-88) ; was an academic ounselor, graduate assistant coach and physical education instructor at Miami COhio) University 0990-91); and is currently an assistant admis– sions director at Kentucky Career Institute in Florence, Kent. He is auociated with Bertka Scouting Service in California and I

The Warriors were 21-6 a year ago under Jay Bowen, who recently resigned that position in order to ac– cept an assistant coach's position at Georgia State University in Atlanta Cooper, who is currently residing in Cincinnati, is expected to be on campus Monday to meet w1th the team. NJCAA teams could beging practiceon Sept. 16. ECCC women's coach Sammy Pace and former men's coach Joe Clark have been serving as interim co-coaches of the Warriors.
