i I E.C.1.C. a I highlights. .. The ECJC Lady Warriors managed to split in basketball action this past week defeating Hinds 75-67 then losing to Utica 72-66. The Warriors of East Cen- tral fell victim to Hinds 91-83 and then lost to Utica 105-67. In the Hinds game, the Lady Warriors led by 1 at half time, 40-39, before tak- ing control in the second half to win by 8. Four players scored in double figures as Karen Miller led with 16 points. Miller was aided by 13 points from Barbara Jones, 12 points from Sethia Townsend, and 12 points from Anita Union. Leading the Lady Eagles of Hinds was Shirley Walker with 21 points. Against the Lady Bulldogs of Utica, East Central Warriorettes were leading the game until an injury forced Sethia Townsend to the bench. Without Town- send in the line up, the Lady Warriors could not keep pace with Utica in the se- cond half and eventually lost the game 72-66. For the Lady Warriors, Karen Miller had 17 points while Regina Amos added 15, and Barbara Jones added 12. -

Utica's Clara Banks led their scorin fort with 26 points. The Warriors found the going toug against Hinds as the Eagles connected o 25 of 36 attempts in the first half for a amazing 69% from the floor. The Wal riors shot 50% from the floor and found thernselves trailing 50-3: halftime. The Warriors cut the lead t 3 at one point in the second half only t see Hinds finally win 91-83. Leading th Warriors was Talby Bender with 2 points, followed by Ronnie Bender wit 18, and Kenny Morgan shot f o ~ points. Leading Hinds was Sterling l.... with 28 points. Against Utica, the Warriors kept pac in the first half, and trailed by 4 2 halftime, 45-41. However, in the secon half, the Bulldogs exploded for 60 poinl while the Warriors went cold from th floor and could only score 26 points 2 Utica easily won, 105-67. Leading t h Warrior effort was Talby Bender wit 21 points. Leading Hinds were Tracey Parker with 31 points. Tamra Hag- gard with 20 points, Sharon Smith with 12points, and Gail Lobuewith 10 points. In the second game of the night, Hinds dropped a 7566 defeat on the Warriors. Mike Mills of Helena, AK put 25 points on the board for ECJC follow- ed by Griffith with 14 points, and Ronnie Bender of Louisville with 12 points. High scorers for Hinds were Robert Bendolph with 27 points, Alray Lewis with 15 points, Alvin Morris with 14 points, and Lawson Veal with 12points. On Jan. 24 the Warriors and War- riorettes traveled to Utica Junior College. The Warriorettes held out a
Douglas with 13 points, and Corine Dent with 11points. In the men's game, with a tied halftime score of 30-30, the Warriors were defeated by Holmes in the end 75-56. Ricky Griffith of AsRland, KY led the Warriors with 16points, followed by Kemy Morgan of Morton with 13 points, and Drew Garvin of Wurtland, KY with 11points. High scorers for Holmes were Johnny James with 28 points and James Lehaman with 14 points. On Jan. 21 Hinds Junior College met with defeat as the Warriorettes led at the half 5130 and went on to win the game 9083. Miller and Chambers led ECJC with 22 points, followed by Eichelberger with 21 points
4541halftime lead but were defeated in the end 87-77. High scorers for East Central were Eichelberger with 30 points, Miller with 18 points, and Bowie with 14 points. High scorers for Utica were Beulah Leggens with 41 points, Rochelle Henderson with 14points, Pam Men with 13points, and Linda Lee with 11 points. In men's action, the Warriors pick- ed up their win as they led at the half 2524 and went on to defeat Utica 57-54. High scorers for East Central were Morgan with 17 points, Griffith with 12points, and Mills with 11points. High scorers for Utica were Mike White with 15 points and Jamie Johnson with 10points.
The East Central Junior College Warriorettes have added two more win8 to their record and the Warriors have added one. On Jan. 18 the Warriorettes and Warriors took on Holmes Junior Col- lege on the ECJC campus. With a halftime score of 57-33 in the Warriorettes favor, they went on to blast Holmes with a 105-67 win.
