New Dean of Students
Gene Davis, a former student of East Central Junior College, has returned to that institution as the Dean of Students. For the past seven years, Davis has served in the capacity of Dean of Men and Supervisor of Housing and Discipline at Gulf Coast Junior College. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Mississip– pi State University in Physical Education and Recreation with a minor in administration. He received his specialist degree from MSU as well, with ad– ditional study at William Carey College. Davis is a member of several professional organizations in– cluding Mississippi Professional Educators, Southeastern Association of Housing Officers, Mississippi Junior College Student Personnel Association, and the Mississippi Campus Law Enforcement Association. He was selected as one of the Out– standing Young Men of America in 1982, 1984, and 1985. He was also selected twice for the National Baseball Congress Semi-Pro All-State Team. He is presently the President of the Mississippi Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and has participated in turkey calling contests at the state and national levels. He also conducts turkey hunting seminars on the local and state levels . Very much in demand, Davis conducts selllinars, workshops, and in-serviee training in the areas of campus security, housing personnel, and leadership training. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Louisville.
