ECJC To Present Musical ''Bye Bye -Birdie''
She was elected to serve as a football cheerleader and is currently serving as the head basketball cheerleader . Stacie was also ~lected by the Student Body to serve as a Class Favorite and Homecoming Maid. Other honors include being chosen as a Beauty and as the Freshman Girls Dormitory Chairman. She serves on the Tom-Tom and the Wo– He-Lo, the College newspaper and yearbook respectively. Other cast members include Lori Harrell as Mae Peterson; . Alben Roland as Hugo Peabody; Boyd Germany and Nelda Ger– many as Mr. and Mrs. MacAfee; Stan Davis as Randolph; Wendy Smith as Ursula; Toby Pace as the bartender; Tammie Covington as Mrs. Merkle; and Annette Hurley as Gloria. "Bye Bye Birdie" will be . presented nightly April 9-12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Tickets will go on sale March 31st. General ad– mission is $4.00. East Central Junior College has chosen "Bye Bye Birdie" as its annual musical. The show features Scottie Chunn as "Conrad Birdie", the rock 'n roll singer about to leave for the Ar– my. Scottie is the son of Mrs. Margaret Chunn of Philadelphia. A graduate of Neshoba Central High School, he is majoring in music and is actively involved in the Collegians and the ECJC Players. Cast as the recipient of his "One Last Kiss" is Roxanna Manning, who will be portraying "Kim MacAfee" , a typical American teen-age girl who, due to a publicity stunt, wins the honors of Conrad's good-bye kiss before hi s induction. Roxan– na, the daughter of Pete and Carolyn Manning of Philadelphia, is a journalism major who is a member of the Tom-Tom staff and the ECJC
Players. The lead role of the singer's manager, ''Albert Peterson'', will be played by Mike Kirkland. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kirkland of Philadelphia, he is an Engineering Technology major who is a member of the ROTC Honor Guard and - Phi Theta Kappa. He was listed as an Out– standing Cadet and listed in Who's Who Among American Junior Colleges. The very demanding role of "Rose", Mr. Peterson's girl Friday, is portrayed by freshman Stacie Therrell. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Therrell of Philadelphia . Stacie has chosen accounting as her major. She is very active in many clubs and activities including the Baptist Student Union, the Student Body Association, the ECJC Players, the Collegians, the Jazt Band, and the Choir.
