Phil Young Named To ECJC Trustee Board · P . T. Young Sr. this week was named to the East Central Junior College board of trus– tees. He will represent District Four from -Leake County. Young, principal at Lena at– tendance center, succeeds Lin– wood Denson on the college board from Beat Four. Bailey, a 1959 graduate of East Central, received his B. S. degree in industrial arts with a minor in educational psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. His previous teaching ex– perience includes three years '" the Meridian Public Schools, and four years in the Memphis School system. He has been associated with the Chapman Chemical Company in Mem– phis. -0-- It is predicted that in the not distant future people will have to supplement shortages of conventional food by eating insects. tj/i2i )··10 SCOTT COUNTY TIMES(Combine Frank Cross To Mark 37th Year At ECJC Frank M. Cross, longtime chemistry professor at East Central Junior College, will be honored with a reception by the faculty on May 18, 1970, in the Fine Arts Building on the college campus. The reception will be held from 3:30 p. m. until 5:00 p. m. and will cel– ebrate Mr. Cross's thirty– seventh year as a member of the East Central faculty. Coming to East Central in 1933, Mr. Cross has seen the science department grow from a one-room lecture-laboratory combination to the new Cross Science Building which was named in his honor in 1963. When he first came to East Central, Mr. Cross taught both chemistry and Spanish and as– sisted in directing the athletic program. He is a native of Scott County and a graduate of Forest High School. He holds the BS degree from Millsaps College and the MS degree from Emory Uni– versity~ He has also studied at Tulane University, the Uni– versity of Alabama, Louisiana State University, and the Uni– versity of Mississippi. His most recent graduate work was as a National Science F'e 11 ow at Emory University.

Her dedication and interest are further indic– ated by having been named as a STAR teacher in 1971- 72 Mrs. Vickers is also activ; in her church and communit,y as well as educational organ– izati~s.
