~Warriors Win Toss Of Coin

The East Central Junior College Warriors, tied.for the north division lead with the East Mississippi Lions, won the toss of a coin Monday for the right to represent the north in the junior college cham– pionship playoff. East Central will host the south champions, Pearl River Wildcats, at 8 p. m. Friday, December 4. Coach Ken Pouncey's Warriors, winless last season, finished the 1970 campaign with a 5-1 mark in division play and overall record of 7-3, scoring 187 points and 'holding opponents to 163. A large delegation of Scott county fans will see the playoff. During the regular season, Pearl River defeated East Central lH. ---~--.o..__- Bagley Leads East Central To 34-30 Win Former Forest highall-Con– r e r en c e quarterback Freddy Bagley guided the East Central Jtmior College Warriors to a 34-30 triumph over Jones Ju– nior College in their firstgame of the season Thursday. Bagley tossed touchdown passes of 25 yards and35yards to James Carter and scored once himself on a one-yard sneak. He picked up two points with a PAT pass to Keith Doo– ley. ECJC Still 0 On Top In North Play East Central Junior College kept a tight rein on first place in the north standings by trouncing Holmes 34-14. The Warriors have lost only one game, a close thriller to Gulf Coast, the undeafted south division leader. Lanzy Russell and Guy Nowell each scored two touch– downs in the ECJC triumph. Thomas Billups caught a 39 yard pass from Freddy Bagley for another tally. Holmes scored on a two yard run by Joe Felton and a 3-yard carry by Charles Edwards. East Central now is 4-0 in the north and 5-1 overall. Coach Ken Pouncey's boys have scored 140 points while allowing 70 points for opposing teams. Saturday the Warriors go to Pearl River, in second place in the south with 3-1 and 6-1 overall.
