One lime too many the de– fensive secondary of the visit– ing Rangers slipped down a n d barn'!! - touchdown - a 31- yard strike from quarterback Freddy Bagley to wide receiver James Carter. Benny Oberry converted and that was l he 1scoring of the game. This touchdown came w i t h only 38 seconds remaining in the third period a,fter both teams had threatened a couple of times earlier, but never man– aged to get anything on t h e scoreboard. Several times Bagley's receiv– ers were open for the sure six– pointer, but the slippery b a 11 combined with the unsure foot– ing forced the quarterback off his mark. But Bagley did enough dam– age to bhe Ranger defense , con– necting on 12 of 24 passes and having one interecepted. These 12 completions were good for 195 yards , while the Warriors rushing attack - led by half– back Guy Nowell - netted 106 yards. The East Central del'cnse was superb, allowing only 81 yards on the ground and 32 in the air as Northwest m1rnaged only four completions out of 13 pass– ing attempts. All in all the game was a punter's delight since North– west's Robert Lightsey got in his fair share of action. kicking the ball away 12 times and East Central's Cherry boomed it out 10 times.

Junior College's Warriors at'e bef.(inning to wonder w h a t it would be like to play on a dry field. They're also wondering what it would be like to lose. , But Thursday night ili~'"war riors didn't get to experience either situation as they slipped and slid their way to a 7-0 vic– tory over Northwest JC's Ran– gers. The win was the third in as many outings for Coach K e n Pouncey's defending North Di– vision Junior College champs and all of them have been on either a wet, slippery field or in a steady downpour. Hut it looks as though t h e Warriors are getting use to this kind of environment since time and again East Central recciv-1 ers, executing some stunning moves. forced Northwest defen– sive backs on their back~idcs from improper footing.
