Forest Boys At ECJC Help Defeat Northwest

The Warrior team is studded with former Forest High stars and last week they were up against a team coached by Ken Bramlett, who formerly coached at Forest. Trailing 13-0 at the half, the Warriors rallied when quarterback Freddy Bagley hit Willie Hardy on a 12-yard scoring pass, and later ran one yard for a touchdown. Rust;y McMullan booted both conversions for the needed vic– tory points. Northwest got scores by John Lamar on a pl1n1ge and Tom Nelson on a pass from Bil]y Walker. East Central is now 1n1beaten in three outings. Northwest is 0-4 for the season.

Quarterback Freddy Bagley and other Forest boys on the East Central Junior College football team figured prominently in the 7-0 defeat . handed Thursday to Nor thwest Junior College. The Northwest coach is Ken Bramlett, who directed Forest to its first overall Little Dixie crown two years ago. Late in the third period Bagley fired a 31-yard touch– down pass to wide receiver James Carter and Benny Cherry converted for the only points of the contest. It was the third straight win for Coach Ken Pouncey ' s Warriors who are defending north division junior college champions. Bagley connected on 12 of 24 passes for 195 yards while the Warrior rushing attack, led by hallback · Guy Nowell, netted 106 yards. Besides Bagley , other l Warriors from Forest who played under Bramlett include sophomores Ralph Brown, halfback; James May, center; Wade Clark, linebacker; and · freshmen Ken Gordon, half– back; and Bob Smiley, guard. Sophomore end Jimmy Wright, another Bramlett protege, suffered a dislocated 1 shoulder last week, and is on the sidelines for the season.
