Policy Title: INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS

The Intercollegiate Athletic program of East Central Community College (ECCC) will adhere to and support the vision and mission of the College. All aspects of the athletic program will be under the control of the institution through regular administrative channels with input from the faculty and students with regard to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program and with general oversight by the Board of Trustees. The ultimate responsibility for the administrative control of the athletic program shall rest with the President of the College. Intercollegiate athletic teams at ECCC include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, and men’s and women’s tennis. All head coaches of the College’s intercollegiate athletic teams report directly to the Director of Athletics. ECCC will adhere to all appropriate athletic rules and regulations as set by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC). The Director of Athletics at ECCC is to be knowledgeable of all appropriate regulations of the NJCAA and the MACCC and will assist all coaches in needed interpretations. The Director of Athletics will maintain on file current copies of NJCAA, MACCC, and other appropriate rulebooks. Each coach will be responsible for assuring that all appropriate rules and regulations are followed in his/her coaching area and for assuring that all athletes meet the eligibility requirements of all applicable associations. In addition, athletes will follow ECCC’s policies related to admissions, maintenance of academic good standing, and fulfillment of curricular requirements as stated in the College Catalog. All fiscal matters pertaining to the athletic programs shall be controlled by the administration of the College with the ultimate responsibility resting with the President who is the chief executive officer. All funds raised by the ECCC Warrior Club and funds raised for athletic purposes by the ECCC Foundation, Inc., and the expenditure of all such funds to assist the athletic programs of the College, must be approved by the Director of Alumni Relations & the Foundation, the Director of Athletics, the Vice President for Business Operations, then by the President of the College as necessary. All financial transactions of the Warrior Club and the Foundation shall be audited annually in an audit that is separate and independent of that for the regular College funds. All revenue generated through gate receipts at athletic events will be accounted for using the standard operating procedures of the Business Office of the College. Non-transferrable passes for regular season, on-campus athletic events may be provided annually for the following classes of supporters of the College:

Board of Trustees with guests;

• Former members of the Board of Trustees with one guest; • Retired ECCC faculty and staff with one guest; • Board of Supervisors, County Administrator, Circuit Clerk, Tax Assessor/Collector, County Attorney, Comptroller/Purchasing Clerk, and Chancery Clerk from each county of the Support District with one guest; • Legislators representing the Support District with one guest; and • Members of the ECCC Alumni Association Board of Directors and the ECCC Foundation Board of Directors with one guest.

High School Athletic and/or other High School Personnel with a current, valid Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) pass or a current, valid Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) pass will be admitted to regular season, on-campus athletic events with one guest.
