Policy Title: STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS
Annual steps in the strategic planning process are as follows:
Step I
The Institutional Effectiveness Plan (IE Plan) for the next subsequent fiscal year will be proposed (opened) in the spring semester by planning unit leaders. Also proposed are changes to current fiscal year planning unit goals and possible second budget revision requests. After planning unit openings are submitted, the Institutional Research and Effectiveness Council reviews the proposed IE Plan for the next fiscal year in the context of its support of the 2020 Vision Strategic Plan. The SACSCOC Leadership Committee reviews (1) the proposed IE Plan for the next fiscal year in the context of (a) the IE Plan itself, and (b) its support of the 2020 Vision Strategic Plan and (2) 2020 Vision and Mission Statements, Institutional Commitments, and Action Plans. In May, the budget for the next fiscal year is presented to the Board of Trustees for approval with notations tying budget requests to planning unit goals within the proposed IE Plan for the next fiscal year. In June, the (1) 2020 Vision Strategic Plan and (2) IE Plan for the next fiscal year are presented to the Board of Trustees for reaffirmation and approval. In the fall semester, planning unit leaders will provide results, data, and plans for use of results for the previous fiscal year’s IE Plan (plan closing). Also proposed are changes to current fiscal year planning unit goals and possible first budget revision requests. The SACSCOC Leadership Committee reviews the completed previous fiscal year’s IE Plan. In December, the completed previous fiscal year’s IE Plan is presented to the Board of Trustees.
