Policy Title: DEFINITION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
SACSCOC Comprehensive Standard 3.3.1.1 states that: “The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of improvement based on an analysis of the results in . . . educational programs, to include student learning outcomes.” East Central Community College (ECCC) defines an Educational Program as: • A degree or certificate-granting program, or • A cohesive, widely articulated academic discipline with dedicated, full-time faculty, or • An instructional enterprise with a definitive and distinct educational purpose within the institution, administered by dedicated, full-time personnel within the Instructional Division of the college.
Mode of instructional delivery in and of itself is not enough to constitute a distinct educational purpose.
Educational Programs will define measurable, program-level student learning outcomes each academic year through the institutional effectiveness planning process.
