Policy No: 709 Policy Contact: Vice President for Business Operations Policy Title: CONTRACTS, SALARY RECORDS, SALARIES, AND EDUCATIONAL UPDATES Contracts All full-time administrative personnel and faculty receive a written contract which includes the statement of duties, salary information, beginning and ending dates for employment, as well as other employment details. The maximum length of any contract for all personnel except the President is twelve months. It is the policy of the Board of Trustees that no employee of the College shall have more than one contract of employment with the College. In the event additional duties are assigned to an employee for additional compensation, such duties and compensation are to be incorporated within the employee’s sole contract of employment as an amendment thereto. In no event shall such additional duties and compensation be considered to constitute a separate contract of employment between the College and the employee, which is expressly prohibited by Section 25-4-105(3)(a) of the Mississippi Code.

Salary Records

All full-time non-teaching professional staff, full-time administrative support staff, full-time institutional support staff, and part-time employees may receive a Salary Record which includes salary information, anticipated beginning and ending dates for employment, as well as other employment details. The Salary Record is not a contract of employment.

Salaries

All-full time employees, except institutional support staff, receive electronic payroll deposits on the last working day of the calendar month. Institutional support staff receive by-weekly electronic payroll deposits. All full-time employees will have their compensation distributed over 12 months.

Salary recommendations are made and salaries are set after the State Legislature adjourns each year.

Full-time Faculty

Full-time instructors with similar levels of education or training, experience, and responsibility are paid according to an adopted salary schedule. All full-time Academic and Career & Technical teaching faculty at East Central Community College (ECCC) are placed on the adopted salary schedule which provides increments for (1) degree and/or graduate training and (2) acceptable experience as determined by the President. Salaries are increased and adjusted, as far as the budget will allow, on the basis of increased experience and/or increased educational levels. All work accepted for increased educational levels must be in the instructor’s teaching field and be a part of a degree program approved by ECCC.

The President recommends the faculty salary schedule each year to the Board of Trustees for approval.

Part-time Faculty

Part-time instructors are not placed on the adopted faculty salary schedule, rather they are paid at the rate of $650.00 per semester credit hour. (e.g., $1,950 for a 3-hour course). No contracts are issued to part time instructors.
