Policy Title: EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

All East Central Community College (ECCC) employees should be prepared to take proper action should an emergency occur. Quick Reference Emergency Plans documents for ECCC are provided to all personnel. Classroom instructors are responsible for the identification of warnings and alerts disseminated through Warrior Alert and supervision of the students during drills and emergencies. Each instructor is responsible for insuring that safety rules and regulations are followed at all times. Office staff are responsible for maintaining building communication centers in emergency situations. Official emergency notification will be issued through Warrior Alert. In the event an evacuation of the building is necessary, the office staff is responsible for vital records in that department.

Custodial and maintenance staff members will, in case of emergency: 1. Turn off all gas valves to the affected building; 2. Turn off all electrical switches entering the building; 3. Report to the Command Team for further instructions.

Alerting/Warning Procedures - Campus-Wide (Weather-Related) All persons within a building will be alerted to the emergency situation by Warrior Alert, the College’s emergency alert system. This system will be used only for emergency situations such as weather and other emergencies. This alert will come directly from the President or his/her designee and can be received via text messages, voice mail, and email. Students and staff are encouraged to sign up for this alert system. Tornadoes Since tornadoes usually strike without much early warning, it is difficult to prepare for them. However, during severe weather, tornado bulletins are available from the Weather Bureau. In case of severe weather, the following plan will go into effect: I. Chief Coordinator - President Vice President for Instruction A.
