WEEK OF ECCC grads selected for rural dentists program available funding. The pro gram will award 10 new scholarships in 2016-2017, totaling S350,000. With con tinued legislative support, the program hopes to grow to 12 scholarship totaling $420,000 by 2017. Additional benefits include personalized mentoringfrom practicing rural dentists and academic support. After completing dental school, MRDSP scholars must practice general or pe diatric dentistry in a rural or medic.ally underserved com munity. The ~ffiDSP scholar must pro,ide dental seniccs as determined by the MRDSP in a full-time clinical practice in an appro>ed Mississippi community of 10,000 or fewer population located more than 20 miles from a medically served area. MRDSP provides a means for rural Mississippi stu dents to receive DAT prepa ration. benefit from mentoring, learn the art of oral healthcare from practic ingrural dentists, and earn a $140,000 dental school schol arship in return for four years of service.
