Another good year far area softball C ountless high school seniors will never know the feeling of winning a state champi onship during their high school careers. Neshoba Central High School's seniors will never know the feeling ofnot winning one while in high school. As I burned the midnight oil Friday, awaiting the results of the Lady Rockets' Game 2 matchup against West Harrison High could only be ama1,ed at the possibility of what Neshoba Central could accomplish if it won that second game. I followed my colleague Robbie Robertson, who was covering the game, on Twitter as he provided updates from Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. Freshman starting pitcher Aspen Wesleywas her usual dominant self - she entered the game with an earned-run average ofless than 1, having given up just five earned runs on the year - and the Lady Rockets took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a solo home run by Mak enzie Barnett and a fielder's choice RBI by Barnett that scored Rivers Gray.
