ECCCsoftball team sweeps Baton Rouge on Sophomore Day

Sophomore pitcher Lacey Hill of Kilbourne (La.) High School got in done in the circle pitching a shutout ballgame. She allowed six hits and struck out eight batters over seven innings of work. An errorless game two fea tured ECCC putting up seven runs in the first inning en route to a 10-2 five-inning win. A product of Oak Grove High School, Gibson racked up five RBI combined in both games on three hits, including a two-run homerun in game one and a three-run homer in game two. East Central's Lady Diamond Warriors improved its overall record to 36-7 over all and 18-6 in MACJC action. In the 4-0 game one victory, ECCC scored two runs in the first inning on Gibson's home run. The Lady Diamond Warriors then extended its lead adding one run in the second and sixth.

Duke was perfect at the plate in game two going 3-3. ECCC extended its seven run lead with one run each in the second, third and fifth innings. Leake Academy's Chloe Thaggard picked up the game two win allowing three hits and striking out one. The East Central softball sophomores were honored fol lowing the conclusion of game two. ECCC will play its final regular season doubleheader Tuesday, April 19, at Southwest Mississippi Community College at 1 and 3 p.m. in Summit.
