No. 14 Diamond Warriors host NJCAA Region 23 Tournament this week

The East Central Community College baseball team will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 Baseball Tournament this week at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex on the Decatur campus. ECCC, who is 36-15 on the season, will be the top seed in the tournament and will face No. 4 seed Northwest Mississippi Community College at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, in Game 2. No. 2 seed and topped ranked LSU-Eunice meets No. 3 seed and second ranked Jones County Junior College in Game 1 at 2 p.m.

The losers of Thursday's games will meet at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, with the two winners playing at 6 p.m. Friday.

There will be an elimination game at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, with the championship game slated for 6 p.m. Saturday. An "if necessary" game would be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 22.

Admission will be $8 for each game. MACJC passes will be honored.

The NJCAA Region 23 Tournament winner will move on to the 2016 NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series in Enid, Okla., May 28 - June 4 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

Game 1, No. 2 LSU-Eunice vs. No. 3 Jones County, 2 p.m. Game 2, No. 1 East Central vs. No. 4 Northwest, 6 p.m. Friday, May 20 games Game 3, Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 2 p.m. Game 4, Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 6 p.m. Saturday, May 21 games Game 5, Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4, 2 p.m. Game 6, Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5, 6 p.m. Sunday, May 22 game Game 7, If necessary, 3 p.m.

This schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions. Rain is currently predicted for the week and adjustments on playing dates and times will be made if necessary to assure a timely completion of the tournament.
