He is a former president ofthe East Central Miss1ssipp1 Band Direc tors· Association, the Mississippi Pri vate School Assoc1atmn and the Mis sissippi Junior and Community College Band Assoc1at1on (MJCCOA). He is a longtime member of the Mississippi Bandmasters Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Theta Upsilon) and the PercussH"e Arts Society. A graduate of Pass Christian I hgh School, Girling holds bachelor's and master's degrees m music education and a bachelor's degree m percussion performance from Delta State· Univer sit) m Cleveland.
