Supes discuss workforce development with ECCC reps

TAACCCT (Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training) Grant Program's role in the county. ''What the TAACCCT grant did was allow us to work with Winston Plywood & Veneer and Taylor Machine works to develop two courses for potential employees to take and qualify them to work for these industries," McCain said. "Currently we are offering Manufacturing Safety, which is a two week course. We also offer Manufacturing Skills Basic, which is an eight-week course." ECCC announced Sept. 29, 2014 that the school was among 270 community colleges nationwide and the first announced Mississippi community college to receive the TAACCCT grant.
The Winston County Board of Supervisors discussed with ECCC representatives courses that the school is offer ing to assist with preparing workers for local industrial jobs dur ing the board's September 19 meeting held at the Winston County Courthouse. The meeting was attending by all super visors with the excep tion of District 1 Supervisor Burr Warner who was out due to a recent accident. The board met with ECCC Director of Workforce Development Lucretia Williams and 'ECCC TAACCCT Grant Navigator Hanna McCain to discuss the development of cour~es to assist with teaching workers skills needed for potentials employees ofWinston Plywood and other existing indus tries in Winston County.
